After the Ready-Room Meeting
Section titled “After the Ready-Room Meeting”- Angel was exhausted after her earlier spellcasting and was resting; the discussion resumed with Hellion after the return from Green Barrel and the subsequent ready-room meeting, not immediately after her Legend LoreLevel 5 · Divination10 minute · Self · InstantaneousV, S, MName or describe a person, place, or object. The spell brings to your mind a brief summary of the significant lore about the thing you named. The lore might consist of current tales, forgotten stories, or even secret lore that has never been widely known. If the thing you named isn't of legendary importance, you gain no information. The more information you already have about the thing, the more precise and detailed the information you receive is. The information you learn is accurate but might be couched in figurative language. For example, if you have a mysterious magic axe on hand, the spell might yield this information: "Woe to the evildoer whose hand touches the axe, for even the haft slices the hand of the evil ones. Only a true Child of Stone, lover and beloved of Moradin, may awaken the true powers of the axe, and only with the sacred word Rudnogg on the lips.".
- Uther Rannek, Marquess of Rannek, and Marchioness Maria Rannek remained with the party and offered
practical support.
- The Marquis would contact the Marshal and arrange investigative sailors if wanted, while intending to send a contingent to Maiden’s Port even without the party.
- He also offered to seek other capable allies.
- The crew invited the nobles to visit its wider network through the old teleportation circles.
- The visitors learned that the crew includes foreign elves, fiendish and celestial members, and effective young-looking casters.
- Tiphanie had left the crew to serve Crown Prince Marlion as his wizard, as recalled in the September 20 discussion. Earlier plans included investigating the threat to mages at the University and exposing Reformist-aligned nobles through a Peerage complaint; this exchange supplied no new outcome for either operation.
- Hellion described Minfilia Diaz as a pregnant necromancer whose soulmate was Oscar Savoy. The explicit millennia-old description concerned Tiphanie, not Minfilia.
- Minfilia had given Gwyniviere a small emerald object that controlled skeletons used for the wedding. Hellion also recalled undead labor building a hospital in Raibon, Apgar, collecting debts through shakedowns, and staffing an undead brothel.
- Hellion asked on Captain Hedwig Rosenkrantz’s behalf about local elves and possible drow. Uther said he had barely learned that local elves were real rather than stories, and had been surprised by Kelthyr Kulok’s half-elven ancestry; he did not know how to help that inquiry.
- Hellion described archfey ascension and unnoticed divine avatars as possibilities in the Feywild, not a simple or readily identifiable process. Uther contrasted these with the rulers of Ahuria, whom he had met and regarded as rulers claiming godhood rather than gods. Hellion expressed interest in visiting their culture.
- The party planned to travel to Eastonton with the Duke, Duchess, court wizard, marshal, and a
small retinue.
- Minfilia hoped to make Eastonton a central base for associates linked to La Camaraderie de la Mer.
- The port lay outside the Gulf of Inespell and its tighter naval controls, though it was exposed to severe weather. Hellion arranged to meet the retinue at the military base in half an hour.
- Angel remained behind to rest.
- Oren Bell initially declined the trip so he could continue investigating people connected to
Tristan. He had not met Minfilia, who was in Thrantorbury, but later joined the Eastonton
delegation.
- Oren wanted to identify the people Tristan had been coordinating with. He rejected the explanation involving the legendary location, while Hellion said Trajan was also investigating.
- Hellion recalled Minfilia making a deal with the hags in Port Surrey, but did not know its terms.
- The group remained suspicious of the Maidenfelds and their secrecy about the dragon eggs already
disclosed in the Haven.
- Their long-standing protection of a secret prompted a comparison with dragons; this did not establish that the family members were dragons themselves.
- Stories of an Orb of Dragonkind created by Tiamat were treated as uncertain lore, not as information connected to Tiphanie.
- The table discussed Tiphanie’s bargain with Baba Yaga: years of her life exchanged for a magical artifact, leaving her at roughly the age when wizard training begins while retaining her power. The discussion connected the artifact with rallying trapped dragons; it was not an in-character disclosure to Hellion or Oren.
- As he left the castle for the military base, Hellion found Crispin in a tree singing
Flight of Dragons and spoke to him in Draconic.
- Hellion invited him to Eastonton and warned that his old acquaintances there would neither recognize him nor be recognizable to him.
- Hellion mentioned Miya Campbell (Dorothy Marie Campbell). Crispin agreed to accompany the group only if Sandor Kethlas also came.
- Crispin initially refused because Angel was not going and feared Hellion might sell him. Hellion suggested acting as Angel’s representative, buying things she might need, and bringing a gift for a future visit to an elven settlement.
- Crispin said he barely knew Sandor, but trusted him more than Hellion; requiring Sandor’s company did not establish an existing friendship.
- Crispin descended acrobatically, catching another branch and swinging down.
- Hellion suggested that he could become a monk rather than a caster. Crispin misunderstood “monk” as “monkey,” then assumed monks were bald and prayed. Hellion identified himself as a monk and cautioned Crispin against judging others by appearance.
The Road to Eastonton
Section titled “The Road to Eastonton”- Crispin argued that a shapeshifted dragon mother would have been the monster, not him, and
suspected magic was compelling his confessions.
- Hellion told him in Draconic that, without Auraxx’s boon, he might already have killed Angel; Angel did not want to kill him. Crispin then left to fetch Sandor.
- Sandor joined them, and Crispin explained that they would represent Angel while she rested.
- Sandor offered to return the Essence of Nymph Angel had given him; Hellion warned against giving it to Angel. No use or return was narrated.
- Sandor asked whether Gwyniviere was coming. Hellion said she was busy tending the injured, doing what she could without magic.
- Hellion offered Sandor and Crispin one rune each if they could beat him at a game or challenge. Cards were suggested, but no contest took place here.
- Sandor confirmed that he had received a Ring of Mind ShieldingR G| D M G · Uncommon · requires attunementWhile wearing this ring, you are immune to magic that allows other creatures to read your thoughts, determine whether you are lying, know your alignment, or know your creature type. Creatures can telepathically communicate with you only if you allow it. If you die while wearing the ring, your soul enters it, unless it already houses a soul. You can remain in the ring or depart for the afterlife. As long as your soul is in the ring, you can telepathically communicate with any creature wearing it. A wearer can't prevent this telepathic communication. after the earlier events.
- They walked to the military base’s teleportation circle rather than directly to Eastonton.
The journey took a little over an hour.
- Increased patrols and checkpoints questioned them; documentation of their work for the Marquess allowed them through. Maria had also taught Hellion codes for this work.
- The marshal was briefing troops on an undisclosed operation and agreed to accompany the travelers after instructing his acting officer.
- The Duke and Duchess, Uther and Maria arrived in two carriages with an honor guard; Oren rode with them. Trajan remained behind as Hellion’s trusted contact there.
- Hellion activated the circle using the destination sigil. He drained five enhancer orbs from his own supply to replenish the circle’s surrounding orbs, preserving their charge and the travelers’ spell slots. The circle could have worked without this replenishment.
- The nobles, marshal, Oren, Sandor, Mallow, and the party emerged in a vast ruined chamber
containing a tree.
- The Duke drew his weapon at the figures still dressed as Dark Archons. Hellion identified them as Dark Archons the party had fought here before, raised by Minfilia to serve as undead guards; their old attire prompted concern, not a new attack.
- The discussion distinguished their reported spellcasting capabilities: third-level spells, an account of one casting a fifth-level spell before disintegrating, and claims that some Dark Archons could cast eighth-level spells. No such spell was cast in this encounter.
- Beyond them lay Oberon’s oasis, with pixies and wary dryads. The dryads were especially
disturbed by something broken they sensed in Oren.
- DM clarification: their reticence reflected the considerable blood on Oren’s hands, not a newly established magical defect. This explanation was not disclosed to the visitors.
- Hellion reassured the fey in Elvish and offered candy to the pixies. The dryads remained partly hidden, returned his bow, and left acorns; he collected them and left seeds in return.
- Jessica, also known as Minerva, met the delegation, greeted Marchioness Maria Rannek and Marquess Uther Rannek. Hellion asked to show the delegation the orb; Jessica warned of death, while Sandor hesitated and Crispin moved forward. She then used Dimension DoorLevel 4 · Conjuration1 action · 500 ft. · InstantaneousVYou teleport yourself from your current location to any other spot within range. - The Kalassarian living quarters were operational again, including their magical freezer and
dispensers. Most areas were now lit, though the oasis was kept dim and cracks remained unrepaired.
- Miya, Jessica, and Sensodyne remained here; Pecorine and Anton had left after completing their work.
- In the cafeteria, Sandor approached the bread and startled at the red-skinned, horned baker. She introduced herself as Sensodyne and identified herself as a devil. After learning that the two were Angel’s friends, she invited them to take bread and continued baking.
- Maria greeted Sensodyne, having heard about her from Minfilia, and praised her baking. The Duke and Duchess also greeted her; Oren offered little beyond a nod.
- Miya protested that Hellion had brought Angel’s parents without Angel. Maria thanked her for helping them; Miya said she had dressed up expecting Angel to come and was disappointed to learn that she was resting.
- Miya asked for a sample body made by Mallow to study his creations. Hellion had understood the request as Minfilia’s and said he had no body with him; no sample was delivered here.
- Miya described her golem as able to dance and sing, though its singing sounded odd. She thought it was a Mallow prototype and said she had taken it over because Mallow was dead. This was her account, not independent confirmation of the golem’s origin or Mallow’s death.
- Crispin gave his first name. Miya introduced herself as Miya Campbell and described herself as a sorcerer who burned forests.
- She defended burning a supposedly “fake” forest by describing its lack of birds, small
animals, and the sound of wind in the trees. After a suggestion that it might be planted for
lumber, she said the lumber mill was used by the Reformist Church.
- DM clarification: this was a small tree farm for lumber near Castle Malthrek, not an illusory forest. The surrounding area is generally inhospitable to timber-producing trees. Miya was referring to the cultivated grove and Reformist staging site she and Boyle had burned, recounted in the June 27 session.
- Lord Boyle was surprised that the nobles had come to them. He described himself as Lord Captain,
“not a noble, per se,” rather than claiming the place as his realm.
- When asked about the Maidenfelds, he said he did not presume to know more than Uther did.
The Orb of Absorption
Section titled “The Orb of Absorption”- The delegation discussed the Maidenfelds’ spice network, their senior contacts, and the secrecy
surrounding their sources.
- Boyle pointed toward higher-ranking naval and military contacts in Port Surrey for more information. He described the Maidenfelds as selling through their own outlets and keeping their sources secret; other traders could obtain spices for use, but not resale.
- Boyle said that he and Lieutenant Lilya Bkorneblume helped catch unauthorized spice sales and bring those responsible to trial.
- The operation discussed in connection with Bramsgate remained under radio silence to avoid detection. Separately, no news had arrived from Thrantorbury.
- The surviving Reformist prisoners remained restrained after some had found ways to kill themselves. Jessica pressed for a decision about what to do with them in Minfilia’s absence.
- Marcus Parnassus, an intelligent Kalassarian skeleton raised by Minfilia, was said to understand
the vast local Orb of Absorption.
- The visitors compared it with the smaller orb used by Lime’s group in the Maltreks, which they recalled absorbing a pocket dimension and growing while remaining controllable. Jessica credited the local orb’s control to the scholar Minfilia had raised.
- A large skeletal dog raised by Minfilia played fetch with a bone nearby.
- Miya boasted that she knew Minfilia’s weakness and could defeat her, but refused to reveal it. She offered to exchange it for Angel’s weakness; the offer was declined, and neither was disclosed.
- Marcus recommended viewing the orb from the safer control room and instructed the visitors to
remove magical equipment before approaching it.
- Miya and Sandor discussed his wizard apprenticeship and her own wild magic and instruction from court wizards. Their disagreement over luck remained a discussion of their views, not a demonstration of new magical effects.
- Miya explained that the orb drains magic and that Reformists had fed children and captured
adult spellcasters to it. She recalled finding children near death when she and Boyle arrived.
- She identified herself as a sorcerer and rejected the assumption that accompanying Boyle, whom she called the Great Erected One, made her a cleric or warlock.
- Miya asked Boyle to wear his jumpsuit with the Orb of Repulsion so she could show why she called him a god. The proposed demonstration did not take place. The discussion turned to keeping the visitors on the pathways rather than directly under the Orb of Absorption.
- The party speculated that the Maidenfeld keep might conceal Kalassarian machinery, underground
chambers, submarines, or access to the Haven. Its underwater approach was already disclosed;
the proposed Kalassarian connection remained speculation.
- Hellion compared the ruins with the Maidenfeld keep and wondered whether mechanisms beneath it were unknown or deliberately concealed. The visitors also cited the Walburton mansion and Travertine facilities as reasons to investigate, not proof of a hidden system there.
- Jessica quoted Hellion 1,500 gold for the Rune of Tongues, but no purchase was completed.
Crispin joined them, hoping to find something for Angel, and found the prices discouraging.
- Hellion asked Jessica to investigate alone on an upcoming job; no departure or completed investigation was narrated in this exchange.
- Marcus led the group to the lockers and instructed them to touch a circular mark to bind a
locker to their identity.
- Hellion deposited his numerous magical items, some normally invisible, and his bag of holding. Sandor stored a ring and rope; Crispin stored his amulet; the nobles stored their rings, runes, and other magical possessions.
- Miya stayed in the control room, having already seen the orb. Jessica guided the visitors toward its boundary; she retained magical equipment because she would not cross that boundary.
- Jessica said the ranking Reformist prisoners were held in the ruins’ mazes and kept asleep
for days with Essence of Dream supplied by Luana, but some
resisted it. Concern that resistance was growing made a decision about their fate more urgent.
- She said authority over the ruins rested with Minfilia or the Crown Prince. Killing or disabling the prisoners was discussed, but no new sentence or procedure was enacted here.
- A reference to Faltir being taken down recalled Kelthyr and Luana’s earlier operation there, not a new attack or an unexplained event.
- Uther confirmed that Jessica was the person Hellion intended to send to support him. Jessica questioned the need when Oren was already available; Hellion said he needed two people working in the shadows. Further discussion was deferred until after the visit.
- Five figures represented the pagan goddesses Minerva, Justicia, Pomona, Volupta, and Amarina,
associated respectively with civilization, justice, nature, delight, and humility.
- Divine Masochism syncretizes these goddesses as angels; Minerva is the Angel of Civilization, and Justicia the Angel of Justice.
- Hellion knew Volupta from comparisons with Hedwig made in Maiden’s Field. The resemblance was a reported comparison, not an identification of Hedwig as the goddess.
- Oren said he despised gods, though he would choose Pomona if obliged to pick. Jessica’s generalization about elves prompted an argument over the distinction between elves and eladrin.
- Jessica pointed out the orb’s invisible boundary.
- Crispin advanced, and Hellion accompanied him across the boundary. Hellion shook as red wisps were drawn from his spine, but grabbed Crispin by the collar and dragged him back out.
- The effect resembled antimagic and was especially painful to strongly magical beings.
- The nobles experienced differing levels of discomfort, with the Marquis and Marchioness seeming least sensitive.
- Crispin reacted differently: he felt lighter near the orb, resisted being removed, and wanted to
go beneath it.
- Jessica questioned why Hellion stopped him and suggested letting him go beneath it, despite warning that it would drain his magic. Hellion maintained that they should be cautious.
- Hellion suggested another visit with Angel and reminded Crispin that she would be sad if he did not return. Crispin said people hated who he had been or would become; Hellion asked who he was now, rather than accepting that hatred as an answer.
- Crispin gradually agreed to leave. He thought Angel would want to see the orb, but said she would not want to die because she still intended to reach Bastion.
- His willingness to approach the orb partly reflected fatalism about his former or future self. Whether his feeling lighter also reflected something about the orb remained unresolved; neither his willingness nor feeling better established that entering farther would be safe.
The Paladinate and the Rescued Elves
Section titled “The Paladinate and the Rescued Elves”- Jessica explained that the Orb of Absorption continuously drains raw magic and routes it through
conduits to power the ruins and their traps.
- She said that when the ruins were captured, the system had been nourishing an aberration. The discussion also recalled using it to charge other orbs; feeding an aberration was not presented as its only possible use.
- The orb was currently controlled, though it had previously run wild.
- Jessica said captured ranking Reformists were imprisoned here, with Mallow, whom she called the Bearer of the Candle, the exception.
- Ellington said the Maltreks’ operatives had little contact with those elsewhere. He had proposed better coordination, but Garward had opposed sharing what was held at Eastonton. Garward having a separate agenda remained an inference.
- Mallow was described as new to the Reformist hierarchy. His recruitment did not establish that his earlier crimes had all been committed for the Church.
- Possible contact between Miya and Hedwig was suggested, not confirmed. Jessica said Sapphire wanted her to come; Andrew was reported to be with Sapphire.
- The party left the orb, recovered its equipment, and returned to the living quarters.
Jessica used Dimension DoorLevel 4 · Conjuration1 action · 500 ft. · InstantaneousVYou teleport yourself from your current location to any other spot within range. - Miya’s seized golem stood outside among the paladins; an initial description of it training was immediately corrected to standing by.
- Jessica explained that Miya had fought the golem and taken control of its magic, not created it. Crispin watched wide-eyed and expressed surprise at her accomplishment.
- Jessica described more sophisticated Mallow golems, including one that looked exactly human. The ensuing explanation of golem construction cited advanced spellcasting and a specialized manual; it did not establish that Miya had those crafting abilities.
- Hellion said he intended to accompany Angel to Bastion, though he knew little about it. He
recalled her account that it was where magic originated, alongside her parents’ opposition and
Trajan’s warning that the journey was dangerous.
- Jessica referred cryptically to earlier celestials’ failed protection and an attempted sealing; Hellion did not understand the reference, and Jessica said she did not fully understand it yet.
- Jessica said they had not sent a crew there. She reported an Orb of Power fifty miles across and still growing exponentially, qualifying this with “if what I hear is correct.”
- She described Reformists consolidating control nearby from warlords as people fled Bastion’s destruction.
- Hellion suggested accompanying Angel to obtain information. Jessica described Angel as a third party and fellow celestial whom they would help if she needed support, but doubted that a handful of people could achieve her unspecified objective. She urged Hellion to distract her from going for now; no expedition or postponement was agreed.
- The Paladinate had been rapidly rededicated from the Divine Masochist to the Great Erected One.
- The great stained-glass window appeared magically altered to depict a man with an enormous stylized penis. Most old religious symbolism had been converted, and the paladins’ livery had changed, though some fixtures embedded in the walls still needed work.
- Hellion finally understood the Great Erected One’s name. The Duchess thought its meaning had already been clear and mentioned sculptures at the Travertines.
- Jessica described Lord Boyle as mortified, adding that Minfilia had her ways. Garward’s work of fifteen years was described as reshaped within days, not as a completed conversion of every fixture or proof of every paladin’s personal beliefs.
- Jessica pointed out Garward’s mother serving the paladins and said she was apparently a hag.
- Food was already prepared at the Paladinate, and the visiting nobles were greeted by rank.
- Jessica also pointed out Aigral, Natalia’s grandchild and Boyle’s nephew.
- In the later dinner exchange, Natalia was called the mother of the Great Erected One: Boyle Eastonton, Garward’s brother and the figure at the center of the religion.
- Hedwig and her cohort of Hags of Hama helped teleport the group back to Rannekford, where Hellion
made rounds among the rescued captives being cared for in tents.
- Hedwig had stayed because she felt like helping, consistent with her spontaneous helpfulness, not because of an unexplained hidden purpose.
- Most ship survivors had been brought to Rannekford.
- Injured guards and soldiers were housed nearby but somewhat separately. Care here was largely mundane, with few healers available. Sister Pira led treatment of the most severe cases at the pool, assisted by Gwyniviere; the healers travelled back and forth, and the bishop was not currently present.
- Hellion intervened when clergy hesitated to help a young Cornups girl. Some staff feared her because she resembled Divine Masochist depictions of evil. He told them to move aside if necessary and personally gave her food and drink; her appearance did not establish that she was a devil.
- He then approached the rescued elves, who remained quiet and suspicious. He left decent food and sweet water nearby, spoke Elvish, and offered to listen without pressing them to respond. They reacted to his use of Elvish, but he still did not know their homes or whom to contact to arrange their return.
- Hellion noticed Raistasi, a rescued elven child who
closely resembled Maerwen Lunartear, the
Legally Bare model, while she was calming another crying child. He quietly began saying
“Maerwen” but cut himself off, dismissed the resemblance as impossible, and walked away without
pressing her.
- An initial description of mud on her face was corrected: the rescued children had already been cleaned.
- Raistasi was named in the narration, not introduced by name to Hellion in their encounter.
- Table-only discussion concerned the established twins behind the Maerwen modelling identity, not an identification of the rescued children as those twins. It described them as identical, around ten years old, with sandy, green-tinged hair. Sharyn handled outside communication and paperwork; Dagger Flower, their pixie familiar who painted them, usually accompanied Sharyn. This was explicitly not character knowledge.
- A separate table clarification identified Raistasi as a cleric of the Green Lord, correcting an initial description as a druid. Drained magic, trauma that prevented her from focusing, and her missing stag antler band—her spell focus—left her unable to cast. The characters did not know her clerical role.
- The children wore assorted hand-me-down clothing rather than their original outfits. The headgear was thought to be among belongings not yet returned, not confirmed recovered.
- They remained very weak after deprivation and being offered meat they would not eat during captivity. Their current care included vegetarian food, but they were still frightened.
- After Hellion moved away, they inspected the food, fed the youngest first once they deemed it safe, and appeared to communicate through eye contact without speaking. No mechanism for that apparent communication was established.
- Trajan contacted Emily to ask whether Kelthyr or Luana could help locate an elven settlement for
the rescued children. Emily said neither was currently available; Thrantorbury’s enormous
antimagic field was discussed as an obstacle.
- Oren’s reported ban prompted a proposed workaround: he might guide the group to a settlement while remaining outside its protections. This was not an arranged journey or accepted entry.
- Trajan wanted to exploit the northern forces’ ignorance of Sir Aldric Torward’s capture and asked whether he could be tortured for information about settlements. No torture or resulting information was established in this exchange.
- Emily offered to notify Hellion separately. Her reference to known cave settlements concerned drow, not the elven refuge Trajan was asking about.
- Emily rejected a reported plan to turn drow into Reformists, citing their training. The plan was not presented as already accomplished.
- Emily suggested that an elf from this world, rather than the Feywild, might better approach the children. Angel was also suggested, though she was still tired. Neither approach was established as carried out during the call.
- Emily wondered whether the children might have a shard; a possible connection to the Green Lord remained speculation, not evidence of possession.
- Trajan raised one child’s near-exact resemblance to Maerwen. Emily suggested a common face or a human noble pretending to be an elf; these were hypotheses, not established identities. The recently released third issue and the rescued girl’s condition were also raised as reasons to doubt that she was the same person.
- The discussion of Maerwen’s half-nymph ancestry was table-only. Trajan deferred to Emily’s greater familiarity rather than demonstrating knowledge of that ancestry.
Miya’s First Hag Bargain
Section titled “Miya’s First Hag Bargain”- Hellion and Trajan agreed to keep Crispin Mallow’s identity secret for now and give him a chance to decide how to handle his new life. Trajan had nearly mentioned him to Emily; Hellion had nearly slipped with Sensodyne.
- Hellion assigned Miya and Natalia Eastonton to investigate what Sir Aldric Torward might know
about drow and other northern elven settlements. This was an assignment, not a completed
interrogation or confirmed discovery. Sending women to approach the drow was discussed.
- Hellion planned to have Jessica help him with Maiden’s Field; Trajan thought her sneaky manner suited the task. No operation was carried out in this exchange.
- Debate continued over Maerwen’s origin and resemblance to the rescued elves.
- Hellion believed Maerwen was genuinely elven, citing the similar aura of an elven girl nearby. This was his interpretation, not proof of the rescued girl’s identity.
- Trajan recalled overhearing Hedwig and Mystine discussing Maerwen’s origin in the upper part of Senera. She had reportedly withheld her precise location from Mystine, who had not referred or found her; Trajan did not know who had.
- After dinner, the group returned to the ruins. Jessica was preparing to accompany them, wearing her red mushroom-like hood.
- Miya said she used the name Miya Campbell rather than Dorothy, reserving “Dorothy” for Boyle
and her late mother. Crispin introduced himself as “Chris Mallory.”
- She showed the teddy-bear bag her mother had left her and said her mother wrote children’s books, but she no longer remembered enough to identify works the others might know.
- Crispin asked Miya for a magic bargain after she identified herself as a hag. He said learning
magic was taking too long; Miya suggested he might already have the capacity and simply need
instruction. She agreed to hear him out and brought him to her room.
- He wanted magic that would make people leave him alone, especially older people who did bad things to those around him. Miya suggested invisibility, which he accepted as a possibility.
- Crispin offered his real name and expected trading it away would make him forget it. Miya said that was not how it worked and that she had no current use for his name. No name exchange or loss of memory occurred here.
- Miya proposed a ring rather than permanent invisibility, which she said would require more work and time. Crispin’s belief that revealing his name to a hag would keep it secret was his expectation, not an established universal restriction on hags.
- He offered gardening and small-animal taxidermy, which his aunt had taught him so they could sell their work. Miya suggested the aunt might be a hag; Crispin did not know and initially doubted it.
- Miya wanted a grove in Eastonton and help rebuilding a coven for Natalia, whom she called “Mama.” She said Natalia was lonely because her old coven no longer communicated with her.
- The gardening services need not begin immediately. Miya explicitly said Crispin did not have to remain in Eastonton now, since he was needed elsewhere.
- Dorothy produced a simple bronze ring and worked her hair, blood, and magic into it.
- She offered Crispin a Ring of InvisibilityR G| D M G · Legendary · requires attunementWhile wearing this ring, you can turn invisible as an action. Anything you are wearing or carrying is invisible with you. You remain invisible until the ring is removed, until you attack or cast a spell, or until you use a bonus action to become visible again. in exchange for future gardening services.
- She explained that wearing the ring would let them contact each other mentally and share
sight and sensation while on the same plane. Rannekford would be within reach, but the Feywild
would not. She told him to contact her using her real name, Dorothy.
- Their bond transmitted thoughts and emotions, allowing communication regardless of distance on the same plane. Only separation onto different planes prevented communication.
- Before accepting, Crispin hesitated, then gave his real name and agreed to receive the ring in exchange for his services as a gardener with Dorothy Highbury. Naming himself was not the name trade he had earlier proposed.
- Acceptance produced a felt connection. They tested mental communication, shared vision, and sensation when Miya pinched her own cheek. This test did not demonstrate the ring’s invisibility; they did not perform a long-distance test, but distance was not a limit on their communication.
- Dorothy recognized “Crispin Mallow” as a serial killer’s name but assumed the killer had stolen the child’s identity. Crispin did not correct her.
- Miya teased Crispin about whether Angel would be jealous of their connection. Crispin instead relayed that Angel thought Miya was cute and pretty, wanted a joint birthday party, and was excited about their proposed collaboration. Miya confirmed she was the girl in the magazine and said she and Angel had not met before; Angel did not yet know how to contact her.
- Dorothy lent Crispin A Fulminating Treatise, a magical evocation book full of fire spells.
- The book was described as understandable to an attuned reader regardless of language. Crispin distinguished understanding its words from knowing how to use them and hoped to learn from Sandor, who had already offered to teach him. Receiving the book did not make him a wizard.
- When Miya claimed to be sixteen, Crispin recognized the lie through their connection and promised not to tell anyone. He asked for the same privacy for his real name, and she agreed. Recognizing the false claim did not give Crispin her actual age, which remained private from him and the wider world; it was not an unresolved canon question.
- Miya called the book a sign of friendship, asking for neither gold nor a favor, but warned Crispin not to cross her. It was separate from the gardening payment for the ring.
- Crispin speculated that she could make him throw himself off a cliff. Miya said she did not know whether she could do that, though she could do annoying things. This was her first connection, and she did not yet understand its full capabilities. The bond transmitted thoughts and emotions but did not compel actions or give her control over him; that limit was established canon, not something Miya or Crispin demonstrated knowing in this exchange.
- Miya said she could improve the deal as her hag abilities developed and that Natalia was teaching her. As Crispin left, she excitedly celebrated her first hag deal; no upgrade occurred during this exchange.
- Crispin returned to the group. Sandor asked what he had received, and Hellion asked whether he was all right and whether Miya had done something to him. Crispin refused to explain.
- When Hellion questioned Miya about Crispin, she said she had only asked him to promote her magazine. She did not disclose the gardening bargain or their bond.
- Hellion reiterated Miya’s assignment to handle Sir Aldric Torward and obtain information for
Emily about drow activity. Torward did not need to accompany the returning group; Miya said she
would deliver the information to Emily. This remained an assignment, not a completed questioning.
- Hellion recommended sending women to approach the drow, describing their society as matriarchal. Miya offered to go, but was advised to learn more and speak with Emily first. No expedition was undertaken here.
- Jessica offered to reduce the price of the Rune of Tongues by 200 gold because Hellion was already spreading the word about her. He thanked her; this exchange did not establish a completed purchase.
- The party used Dimension DoorLevel 4 · Conjuration1 action · 500 ft. · InstantaneousVYou teleport yourself from your current location to any other spot within range. You can also bring one willing creature of your size or smaller who is carrying gear up to its carrying capacity. The creature must be within 5 feet of you when you cast this spell. Undead archons at the circle were no longer a surprise to them. The marshal called the visit eye-opening and arranged carriages for their return.
- The marshal concluded that Donmar the Hicklander was his cousin’s son, whom he called his nephew. He recalled meeting him only once or twice at an old reunion. Jessica said they had the same scent and offered to confirm the relationship; no further confirmation was performed.
- During the carriage ride back to the castle, Sandor struggled to stay awake while Crispin
fidgeted with his new ring. The group was tired from the late hour and much to take in, rather
than an especially strenuous stretch of fighting or spellcasting.
- They agreed to defer the meeting until morning. The children did not necessarily need to attend, and Angel was not yet available for it. The marquis planned to catch up with Maria that night.
- By morning, the Maidenfelds and several nobles had departed.
- Some nobles remained for breakfast. The departures prompted speculation that those who left were aligned with the Maidenfelds or simply considered their wealth and submarines the stronger strategic position; departure alone did not establish allegiance.
- Some departures were explained as following instructions to accompany the Maidenfelds and play along with what they said, rather than necessarily endorsing them.
The Morning Council
Section titled “The Morning Council”- Before the formal breakfast meeting, an invisible flying ship was reported over Sanery, not
Senera generally. The Maidenfelds were also said to avoid Sanery; the reason remained unknown.
- Their hatred of Reformists was accepted as sincere, but that did not establish shared morals or make the family otherwise trustworthy.
- A further twenty-four-hour wait was proposed before launching a rescue for Minfilia and the
Crown Prince in Thrantorbury. This was a contingency discussed by those outside, not a deadline
shown being communicated to the pair.
- The Crown Prince’s input on the Maidenfeld situation was emphasized, rather than Minfilia alone being the reason for the rescue.
- The possibility that the king had died, and that the prince would need to secure his throne rather than directly support them, remained speculation.
- The marquis said his crew would undertake the proposed rescue while he remained here. No rescue had been launched in this exchange.
- The formal breakfast meeting included Angel, Gwyniviere, Lance, Sir Brastok, the nobles, and other
allies.
- Angel asked for Sir Brastok to participate, and Uther Rannek agreed and gave him a seat.
- Hearing that Hellion had met Miya, Angel wanted to meet and befriend her, bring a gift such as a dress, and arrange a joint birthday celebration. She said Minfilia and Uncle Oscar were handling her party preparations; no joint celebration was agreed with Miya here.
- In the age discussion, Miya was described as a year older than Angel, then “officially” turning sixteen. The distinction was treated as confidential, not a newly unresolved canon discrepancy. Angel’s request to be officially twenty-five was refused because her actual age was already registered.
- Gwyniviere disputed Angel’s claim that she had called Angel the more mature of the two. Joking about Gwyniviere having aged herself through a hag deal did not establish such a deal.
- Miya’s coven was asked about, with the Hags of Hama mentioned; the exchange did not establish that she had already formed the new three-hag coven she wanted in Eastonton.
- Jessica had returned with them but was not visible at breakfast. The suggestion that she was hiding from Lance was speculation, not an established motive or absence from the room.
- After joking about Jessica biting necks, Hellion’s head went into his plate when Jessica punched him while unseen. He said she was here; others interpreted the incident as a response to his bad-mouthing her. Angel asked what was happening, and Hellion insisted he was fine and continued eating.
- Asked about the rescued people, Trajan reported that they had been fed and tended to, but
remained frightened and reluctant to interact. He had spoken a little with the Cornups child,
who seemed not to know where they were.
- The elves appeared to recognize speech in Common and Elvish but still did not want to speak. Their silence was not proof that they lacked comprehension.
- Oren joined breakfast eating an apple. The ensuing discussion described teaching human languages selectively to elves who would travel or trade outside their communities, rather than necessarily to every child.
- Angel suggested the language boundary might be protective. The discussion also raised resistance to human rule and reliance on translation magic; these interpretations did not establish why these particular rescued elves were silent.
- A language rune appeared on Angel’s pancake. She called it a gift from Celestia, but its source was not explicitly identified. Told to hold rather than eat it, she successfully answered Hellion’s Elvish greeting; it allowed both understanding and speech, not demonstrated permanent language learning.
- Angel asked about an Ahurian language rune. Hedwig was mentioned as translating Ahurian for Emily; no additional rune was established as available or supplied in this exchange.
- Angel was proposed as her parents’ representative to the rescued elves: her being a child and celestial might make her less threatening. Sir Brastok’s accompaniment was discussed; this was not yet a completed visit or evidence that the elves would trust her.
- Hellion raised a job with Lance but deferred their conversation until later when Lance asked
what it was.
- Angel objected that only her father could give Lance a job and told Hellion he was overstepping his boundaries. Hellion clarified that the request was personal, not about nobility; this exchange did not establish an official assignment or Lance’s acceptance.
- Angel asked whether it was like the earlier occasion when Hellion had asked her to scratch his back. The nature of the proposed job was not disclosed in this scene.
- Angel and Gwyniviere teased Hellion. He tried to tease Angel in return by comparing her to a hag, but she took it well, saying that the hags she had met were actually very pretty.
- Hellion told the others that they would bring the rescued elves to their settlement, with Oren taking them there. This was the stated plan, not a completed return journey.
- Gwyniviere asked Hellion to paint her nails. The exchange did not establish that he painted them.
- Angel reported trying to contact Steven Maidenfeld before sleeping, wishing him a safe return
home, but receiving no response. She sought an update on his condition.
- Angel’s earlier divination had established that he was alive, endangered, and coerced; his location and captor remained unknown.
- Hellion said that checking whether Steven was alive was his job, while Angel should focus on returning the rescued elders and children home, where they could feel comfortable again.
- The group questioned the Baron’s priorities, judging that he seemed more concerned about his business and its reputation than his endangered son. This was their assessment, not an established finding about his motives.
- Discussion of maritime contacts recalled the pirate vessel Illegally Bear and its captain,
Illegal E. Bear, whom the party had encountered earlier. The group considered maritime contacts
and an insider as ways to investigate what the Maidenfelds were doing more broadly, not just
the Haven.
- The party reasoned that pirates would value a renewable source of gold more than a fixed payment.
- An unidentified woman possessed a Ring of SwimmingR G| D M G · UncommonYou have a swimming speed of 40 feet while wearing this ring..
- The group sought an insider or spy, debated a potential recruit’s loyalty, and considered listening to meetings held by people with access to teleportation.
Celestials, Dragons, and the Haven
Section titled “Celestials, Dragons, and the Haven”- The council debated whether celestials are naturally good or merely sheltered and whether
Celestia’s contentment suppresses personal choice.
- Jessica recalled an imposed aura of contentment among Celestia’s citizens and objected to the loss of choice it implied. This was her account, not a demonstrated effect or an independently verified explanation of Celestia.
- The discussion connected childhood innocence, upbringing, and self-determination to opposition toward gods who control mortal paths.
- When asked what mattered most to her, Angel answered that it was her family and was credited with protecting them.
- A question about Sapphire’s severed wings referred back to events already known to Hellion and the Rozemaiden members who had travelled to the Feywild. Earlier accounts described her loss of her right wing to Oberon and a massacre in her hometown under apparent geas-like compulsion. The question did not make that history a new mystery for those who knew it.
- A speaker said that celestials are watched in other realms, specifically describing the archfey as monitoring celestials in the Feywild. Whether similar monitoring occurred in this realm was left uncertain.
- The discussion recalled a parasite exiting through a man’s eye socket and destroying the eyeball during an earlier incident.

- The party suspected that a secretive faction was concealing dangerous plans involving the Haven.
- One point in the debate was that private affairs could be respected unless the concealed activities put Senera at risk. The possibility of someone hatching the dragon eggs and using dragons against the country illustrated that concern; it was not an established Maidenfeld intention.
- The discussion described the Haven as an “underwater cave” containing rare spices and dragon
eggs. This was the speakers’ shorthand, not a new finding that its interior was submerged;
the Baron had distinguished its underwater approach from its dry interior.
- The Maidenfelds said the spices were in the Haven. The exotic-spice cave explanation remained a theory, not a verified description of the source.
- The group doubted ordinary dragons would lay eggs beneath the sea and considered a celestial dragon as one possible explanation.
- The group discussed Crispin’s former implanted dragon anatomy in connection with the search, though nobody had seen him use a breath weapon.
- The group revisited Hellion’s earlier explanation that a dragon’s breath weapon could hatch an egg, considering whether an adult dragon or suitable breath weapon might help. No hatching method was demonstrated in either discussion.

- The Maidenfelds had already acknowledged owning submarines, which they said concealed their
spice source. The party suspected that the vessels were derived from Kalassarian designs and
that the herbs and spices came from a distant region.
- One vessel was described as a prototype.
- The party proposed acquiring or borrowing an intact submarine, inspecting it, using it for the investigation, and returning it.
- Hellion suggested Helena Cooper as an inspector, mistaking her for a smith or artificer, before being reminded that she was a cooper who made barrels.
- The group chose to help Thrantorbury first, expecting that success there would provide information and resources for the later operation.
- Allies would investigate whether mercenaries had been hired to find dragons, dragon eggs, dragonborn, or particular people.
- A monster book’s white-dragon illustration prompted discussion of breath weapons and Feywild
dragon masks.
- If dragons were found, the party hoped to recover an old mask or dragon material that might detect other dragons or grant additional abilities.
- An earlier example was the Red Dragon Mask Tiphanie and Crown Prince Marlion had purchased in Port Surrey. The May 23 recording names the mask at 03:02:44 and records it being taken into inventory at 03:22:25. This earlier acquisition provides context, not evidence that another mask has been found or that every dragon mask has the same abilities.
Plans for the Elves and Hags
Section titled “Plans for the Elves and Hags”- The crew counted five pregnancies: Emily, Lime, Rosie, Minfilia, and Mai, whose child could be born only after she returned to the Feywild.
- A report that the Raven Queen was dead was immediately disputed.
- The group revisited rumors of dragons hidden by hags or elves and reports that some hags taken
over by Tiphanie carried parasites.
- Some characters leaned toward assuming that all Children of the Crone carried parasites. Another character reminded them that infestation had not been proven for every member. The discussion did not establish universal infestation or rule it out.
- Aika Miura was recalled as the Mother and a friend of the elves.
- The Hags of Hama were distinguished from hags who call themselves Baba Yaga’s children.
- Because hags trade information rather than give it away, the party began inventing gossip to barter.
- Proposed rumors about the Maidenfelds, Lord Boyle, Gwyniviere, twins, and other nobles were openly speculative and sometimes deliberately false.
- The group decided to approach the rescued elven children first and learn where they lived.
- Angel would act as neutral ground, accompanied by allies while Sir Brastok initially remained at a reassuring distance.
- Food and mutual aid might establish trust, but genuine diplomatic experience would still be needed for an alliance.
- Separate parties might handle Maiden’s Field and the hags.
- Concern about Crispin led the party to disclose his identity to Jessica.
- Angel had freed Auraxx’s soul and used the resulting boon to return Crispin to ten years old, retaining his memories only up to that age.
- Kelthyr had given Angel an amulet-like object that concealed her celestial nature.
- The party distinguished the child from his adult self and supported Angel’s decision to give him another chance.
- Someone with an appropriate sensing ability would take a closer look at Crispin at the next opportunity.
The Girl in the Garden
Section titled “The Girl in the Garden”- Recovering survivors explored the castle gardens under supervision while Angel approached a girl
of roughly her own apparent age and height.
- Angel addressed her as Maerwen because she thought the girl resembled the Legally Bare model. This was an assumed identification based on resemblance, not confirmation that the girl was the model.
- The girl avoided the question of her resemblance to Maerwen and said she did not know Legally Bare. Angel believed her, apologized, and introduced herself; the girl recognized Angel as one of her rescuers.
- She could not locate her mother or home, did not know the human name for her settlement, and apparently mistook “marquis” for her parents’ names.
- She repeatedly found Angel familiar and was described as somewhat mermaid-like.
- The girl thanked her rescuers and recounted what she had witnessed.
- She introduced herself as Raistasi and let Maple join the other children.
- She asked about her missing stag antler band, her spell focus, and said she could not currently use her magic.
- Angel offered pudding, but Raistasi remained hesitant to trust after the merchant incident.
- Raistasi described an unnamed merchant who had agreed to bring her outside. Angel later reported the encounter to the meeting as a kidnapping involving a deal with the merchant.
- Hellion and Lance discussed the rescued elven girl’s resemblance to Maerwen.
- Hellion’s previously deferred job for Lance was to establish whether Raistasi was actually Maerwen. If so, their connection through Legally Bare might help smooth negotiations for an alliance with the elves; neither the identification nor the alliance was established here.
- Hellion suggested a distinguishing feature to Lance: Maerwen in the magazine had a mole to the left of her privates. Perhaps the guards had noticed it during their shapeshifter checks. No observation from the guards or confirmation of the girl’s identity was established here.
- In a parallel discussion, Uther offered to reimburse operational expenses for Jessica’s investigation. This was not a specific authorization to purchase a submarine.
- Despite uncertain maps and routes, the party promised to return the girl and the other rescued
people home.
- Raistasi put her recovered stag antler band back on before joining Angel in the courtyard.
- Crispin’s magic ring prompted teasing about whether he was engaged to Miya; he denied it and
explained that the ring let him avoid being seen when he wanted.
- Angel was a little envious that the others had seen Miya while she had been asleep.
- In the courtyard, Raistasi demonstrated Tree StrideLevel 5 · Conjuration1 action · Self · 1 minuteV, SYou gain the ability to enter a tree and move from inside it to inside another tree of the same kind within 500 feet. - She denied merely being a nature cleric and claimed to be a child of the Green Lord.
- An Arcana check detected resonant energy around Angel: she did not consciously sense the Emerald Shield shards themselves, but she perceived their surrounding aura.
Games Beneath the Trees
Section titled “Games Beneath the Trees”- The rescued girl did not recognize the word “castle” and understood the building as a large house
or cabin.
- Language aids improved communication only inconsistently.
- She touched and apparently communicated with a tree; Angel translated that the tree liked someone and was no longer lonely.
- She described her distant home as a forested place with a waterfall and glade.
- The girl invited the children to play a game involving a song, climbing trees, and an Earth
Guardian who caught anyone left below.
- The group adapted the activity into tag while Sir Brastok watched nearby.
- Gwyniviere sat sketching the children at play.
- Lance reported to Hellion that he had independently confirmed with the guards that Raistasi
was Maerwen.
- Hellion relayed the confirmation to Gwyniviere, hoping their existing connection would help smooth alliance negotiations. Gwyniviere pointed out that Raistasi had denied the identity when Angel asked; Angel had believed her. No alliance was concluded in this exchange.
- Raistasi’s stag antler band reminded Oren of an old tradition associated with Oberon and his followers before his marriage to Queen Titania.
- The party speculated that the unnamed merchant might have belonged to Mallow’s people or the Reformists, but did not identify him.

whether she was a druid or cleric associated with the Green Lord.
- Her ears and other traits prompted uncertain theories that she was a dryad or nymph.
- They discussed separation from home and possible water or life-energy needs, but did not establish any such requirement. Raistasi’s half-elf, half-nymph ancestry was confirmed separately from the characters’ speculation.
- Jessica was identified as both celestial and werewolf, though a combined winged werewolf form remained speculation.
- While discussing Jessica’s sale of magical items, Oren Bell said his assets had been frozen after he severed ties with the Reformists. He would consider a loan only if a real need emerged.
- The children enjoyed their first freedom after captivity, and Angel arranged a picnic lunch on the grass.
- The party identified Torris as a forest region near a small human settlement, hunting lodge,
lumberjacks, and a river.
- A remote teleportation circle might shorten the journey, but its sigil, destination, and condition were uncertain.
- The group proposed sending strong spellcasters and fighters first to secure the arrival point before transporting the children.

Section titled “Boundaries”- Player identities, account identities, and private speaker labels are excluded from the reader-facing notes.
- Uncertain names, relationships, locations, motives, magical identities, and creature types remain explicitly qualified rather than canonized.
- Rumors about nobles, marriages, incest, hidden identities, and conspiracies are recorded as speculation or invented hag-barter, not established fact.
- The rescued people’s captivity and abuse are described non-graphically while preserving the consequences relevant to play.
- Crispin’s child identity is distinguished from his adult history without resolving moral or metaphysical questions not settled in the evidence.
- The Maidenfelds’ ownership of submarines was already acknowledged. The Haven’s underwater
approach and unhatched chromatic dragon eggs had been disclosed before this session, but the
party had not reached the sanctuary; its full protections, power source, and the family’s
intentions remained unresolved.
- The Baron had described the Haven as a stable, demiplane-like realm attached to Senera, with an interior that was not underwater. Later cave and submerged-ruin descriptions were discussion shorthand or hypotheses, not independent corrections to that disclosure.
- Tiphanie’s possession of an Orb of Dragonkind and the bargain behind it were table knowledge, not established knowledge of Hellion or the visiting nobles.
- No source code or compendium tag is invented for uncertain custom items, artifacts, class features, or unidentified magic.
