Luana Victorique Dubreuil

Luana Victorique Dubreuil is a young human noble of the Dubreuil family, a house associated with one of the best-known cognac brands in the Apgar Confederacy. Records connect her with La Camaraderie and Gerta Moon’s Boarding School.

Luana was sent by her family to a boarding school in hopes of finding a remedy for her achromatopsia. Accounts also describe her as nearsighted. She is said to have fallen into a brief depression after learning that Benoit Marconne, an older cousin to whom she was close, had been kidnapped when she was younger. Her older sister, Meredith, had already married into a wealthy family by the time Luana’s own affairs entered the record.

The school Luana attended was Gerta Moon’s Boarding School, which began in Sanery as a strict but protective refuge for girls with unusual magical importance. A Reformist attempt to take the girls and the magical resources guarded by Gerta Moon and Atomina Russell forced the school to leave Sanery. The subsequent move toward Sentimental Island, where Gerta had bought land for a safer home and orphanage, ended in disaster when the students’ vessel capsized during a storm and was rescued by the Rozenmaiden.

More recent accounts say Luana learned she was under a curse, though neither she nor those close to her remembered when or how it began. She is associated with an archfey figure known in some records as Mommy, who appeared to her in a dream beneath a massive tree. In that dream, Luana saw color and watched a young girl in unusual vestments reminiscent of the Divine Masochist hierarchy. The vision ended before Luana could approach the girl, but it became part of her search for a way to break the curse and is said to have opened a path for astral projection.

Records portray Luana as thoughtful, kindhearted, and reserved around adults. She is noted for long blonde hair, gold eyes, and a small build. She is also described as socially graceful, quick-handed, and unusually persuasive for her age, with training in calligraphy, disguise, cards, and overland travel.

Luana moved from Sentimental Island to Port Rainoso over the objections of her family lawyer, Jason McNatt. This was because she was approached by Mystine Nightingale with the idea of handling a column for Legally Bare dedicated to girlhood, inspired by the dormitory sisters she had known at school.

She modelled for Legally Bare, which were attached to the column she contributed to called Ask Cinna under the pseudonym School Girl Cinna Moan. Since most models for the publication were given a choice of painters they were comfortable with, she chose Snow Skalla to paint her material.

Her personal tastes are recorded with unusual specificity: white lilies, cognac beef stew, chocolate truffles, journalism, writing, reading, stickers, cosmetics, secret meetings, and favorable reviews of the magazine. She is said to dislike mathematics and shrimp.
