Justus

Justus was a merchant and regional representative of the Mirian Trading Company, best known as the company’s liaison in Port Rainoso during the Sea Hags affair. His position placed him at the center of disputes over trade with Reformist-aligned regions and made him a person of interest to the Rozenmaiden, the Four Pillars of the East Side, and other factions attempting to reshape Raibon Island’s politics.

Justus represented the Mirian Trading Company in Port Rainoso at a time when the company’s access to Posaran Sea trade made it difficult for local powers to ignore. The company maintained commercial connections across a wide basin that included Calamutz, where Reformism had become a state-recognized religion. This complicated efforts by local actors to pressure the company into cutting off Reformist commerce.

During the Meeting of the Four, Hedwig Rosenkrantz reported that Justus had refused efforts to make him commit to an embargo on trade with the Reformed Church of the Divine Masochist. Renault II Bouillard argued that the Mirian Trading Company’s position in regional trade made such an embargo impractical, especially where state-recognized Reformism was involved. The factions nevertheless believed that Justus might still be persuaded, and planned to draw him into a more direct conversation.

The agreed method for approaching Justus was an auction of Riche-smithed armor and memorabilia, to be held at a Parvese House of Pleasures. The auction was intended to lure Justus into an intervention where he could be pressed to change the company’s stance on Reformist trade.

The plan also intersected with the effort to protect Benoit Marconne, who was to be invited to a Mirian Trading Company Fight Night so that allies could warn him about Rosemunda Parvese’s intended use of his body. These events made Justus’ office a meeting point between commerce, local criminal politics, and the campaign against Reformist influence in Raibon.
