Rannekford

Rannekford is the capital of the Rannek Marches in western Senera and the seat of House Rannek. It is a river city with a working barge port, guarded warehouses, and normally well-maintained streets.

Geography and Connections

Rannekford was founded around two streams of the same river. Upstream, the river emerges from an underground system at Bogral Airur, where there is no settlement at the headwaters. Rannekford serves as a starting point for river trade, rather than a stop on an established route from a headwater town.

A nearly straight road was built specifically to connect the capital with the naval base at Port Mibram.

River Port

River barges gather beside the city’s warehouse district. Guards watch the warehouses, which include private storage as well as the facilities of the river port. Lance Rannek maintains a concealed storage room in this district.

Institutions and Landmarks

Castle Rannek is the seat of the ruling household. Magistrates’ offices form part of the city’s administrative establishment. The Spring Dancer Inn stands near the castle.

Rannek Cathedral is associated with Bishop Magnus Bramok and Head Deacon Rufus Kethmaris.

The Lord’s Judgment, in southern Rannekford, is an inn and mercenary gathering place.

Recent Unrest

Reformist infiltration and Crispin Mallow’s activities brought impostors and controlled combatants into the city, compromising officials and threatening the ruling household. Castle Rannek was besieged, but its defenders survived the assault.

The unrest damaged streets along the route to the river port. This damage was a recent disruption to the city’s usual maintenance, not its ordinary condition.
