Apgarian Hickic
Apgarian Hickic covers the mainland and near-mainland Hickic branch associated with Apgar and its surrounding regions. It is the likely source area for several conservative Hickic features, but its exact relationship to Proto-Hick, Proto-Maritime, and later Seneran evidence remains provisional.
This branch is expected to include Estregan, Anasaian, Sanerian or Standard Apgarian, and related varieties once those languages are reconstructed in more detail.
Reconstruction Role
Section titled “Reconstruction Role”Apgarian Hickic is useful for testing whether a form is:
- inherited directly from Proto-Hick;
- a conservative mainland retention later lost in Maritime or Seneran branches;
- a mainland reborrowing into Early Hick or another Seneran variety;
- part of a broader Apgarian sprachbund rather than strictly Hickic inheritance.
Future Work
Section titled “Future Work”A Proto-Apgarian page can live under this section once enough mainland evidence exists to separate shared Apgarian innovations from Proto-Hick inheritance.
