Middle Hick Lexicon

The Middle Hick lexicon records inherited Early Hick vocabulary alongside Iutlandish maritime, trade, and landscape borrowings from the period of increased seafaring contact.

For grammatical information and language overview, see Middle Hick.

  1. Cross-references are marked with →
  2. Etymologies are shown in parentheses
  3. Compound derivations are marked with <
  4. Apostrophes (’) are used to transcribe glottal stops in phonemic transcriptions

Each lemma is wrapped in a definition list with id equal to its lexicon id (for example mhk:hafel for hafel “ocean”). You can deep-link from anywhere on the site to a headword on the paginated page that contains it:

/world/languages/hickic/seneran/middle-hick/lexicon/alpha/1#mhk:hafel

The same id appears on both alphabetical and by-field pages, so either browse mode works for fragment links.

The full lexicon is split into static pages generated from JSON-LD shards:

Alphabetical lexicon, page 1 →

The same lemmas are listed under stable semantic field pages:
