Beacon of Necromantic Energy

The Beacon of Necromantic Energy is a legendary staff capable of projecting necromantic force across a wide region when charged with spell power.

Beacon of Necromantic Energy

Staff (quarterstaff), Legendary, requires attunement

1d6 BVersatile 1d84 lb.

This staff radiates waves of necromantic power when charged with spell slots. Its effective radius is 1 mile for each spell slot level spent to charge it, to a maximum radius of 25 miles.

When activated, unsanctified corpses within the radius rise as undead. A raised corpse keeps the same size it had in life; the GM determines its statistics. Corpses protected by sanctifying magic, such as Gentle Repose or a similar effect, are not raised.

Undead creatures within the radius must succeed on a DC 18 Constitution saving throw or become hostile to every nearby non-undead creature. On a successful save, an undead creature is immune to this effect until the next dawn. If it remains within the beacon's radius after that, it must save again.

While unattuned, the Beacon of Necromantic Energy functions as a normal quarterstaff.

**Topple.** If you have a feature that lets you use this mastery property, when you hit a creature with this weapon, you can force it to make a Constitution saving throw. The DC equals 8 plus the ability modifier used for the attack roll plus your proficiency bonus. On a failed save, the creature falls prone.
