Oranrakran

Oranrakran, known in Common as Oran’s Piss, is a region of the northern Footbowl Basin around Queilei, also called Marim. Its twin rivers turn golden under certain conditions, giving the region its name.

Oranrakran lies beneath the Northern Malthreks. Its northern boundary follows that arm of the mountains. To the east, an unnamed pass between the Maltreks and the Rantergs leads toward Skelwick.

The Western Maltreks provide its western boundary. To the south, Oranrakran opens into the rest of the Footbowl Basin; it is part of that basin, not a separate basin alongside it.

Queilei lies at the foot of the northern mountains, amid the region’s woodlands and upper river courses. The settlement’s Common name, Marim, appears on the vicinity map.

The name combines Oran with rakran, the decorous Hickic term for urine, historically derived from an expression meaning “yellow stream”. The blunt Common rendering preserves the bodily reference in the regional name.

The rivers’ golden appearance is intermittent. Its cause and the conditions under which it occurs remain undescribed.

The hand-annotated Queilei vicinity map, preserving its original labels and provisional scale. It depicts the wider setting rather than a surveyed regional boundary.

The eastern pass has not yet been named. The narrow region between Oranrakran and the Western Maltreks awaits a separate name and more precise delineation; the western boundary given here remains provisional. The complete historical development from Oranul kathrakran to Oranrakran also remains to be established.
