Arrival and the Switched-Limb Infiltration
Section titled “Arrival and the Switched-Limb Infiltration”- Angel’s group arrived at the Maidenfeld Spice Company’s teleportation circle.
- Dimitri verified Steven through personal questions and codes before accepting the arrivals.
- Steven vouched for Angel, Hedwig, Jane, and Jennifer, while Dimitri reacted with alarm and asked how they had entered.
- Lance accompanied the rescue party disguised as Rance. Angel still believed Rance was a separate person and Lance had stayed behind.
- The group discussed hags, local teleportation rules, and whether the hags of Estrega could help.
- An ally accepted responsibility for the visitors.
- Their available support included healing, curses, and crowd control, but they did not intend to remain long.
- They considered a multi-pronged response to the Reformists.
- Bellacourt had professed Reformist sympathies, though the sincerity and duration of those beliefs were uncertain.
- The Count of Bede’s claim that he was handling local insurgencies remained unverified.
- Investigation of seaside Bede was deferred until after the marquis’s rescue.
- A fleet-bound ally ordered Dimitri to fortify the spice company, gather its spellcasters, and warn the others before departing through the teleportation circle.
- Discussion of hag bargains established only conflicting possibilities: local hags seemed temporarily bound to the site, yet bargains might be made through even slight contact at a distance.
- Near the elevator, the group encountered a robed company figure whose feet were switched.
- A Wall of ForceLevel 5 · Evocation1 action · 120 ft. · 10 minuteV, S, M (a pinch of powder made by crushing a clear gemstone)An invisible wall of force springs into existence at a point you choose within range. The wall appears in any orientation you choose, as a horizontal or vertical barrier or at an angle. It can be free floating or resting on a solid surface. You can form it into a hemispherical dome or a sphere with a radius of up to 10 feet, or you can shape a flat surface made up of ten 10-foot-by-10-foot panels. Each panel must be contiguous with another panel. In any form, the wall is 1/4 inch thick. It lasts for the duration. If the wall cuts through a creature's space when it appears, the creature is pushed to one side of the wall (your choice which side). Nothing can physically pass through the wall. It is immune to all damage and can't be dispelled by dispel magic. A disintegrate spell destroys the wall instantly, however. The wall also extends into the Ethereal Plane, blocking ethereal travel through the wall. trapped him, and his thrown needles rebounded from the barrier.
- The group warned Dimitri that additional switched-limb creatures had probably infiltrated the site.

- Rance broke the window, and Hedwig encouraged Gwyniviere to jump.
- Fighting had spread below, with Maidenfelds exchanging spells against others of their own kind.
- Sir Hilis Brastok dove after Angel with his hammer, while Rance narrowly avoided a butcher’s hook tethered by tissue resembling sinew.
- The party renewed its search for Crispin Mallow.
- Hedwig probably cleared the weather and cast FlyLevel 3 · Transmutation1 action · Touch · 10 minuteV, S, M (a wing feather from any bird)You touch a willing creature. You sense the direction to the creature's location, as long as that creature is within 1,000 feet of you. If the creature is moving, you know the direction of its movement. The spell can locate a specific creature known to you, or the nearest creature of a specific kind (such as a human or a unicorn), so long as you have seen such a creature up close—within 30 feet—at least once. If the creature you described or named is in a different form, such as being under the effects of a polymorph spell, this spell doesn't locate the creature. This spell can't locate a creature if running water at least 10 feet wide blocks a direct path between you and the creature. with a signet ring to search for the
missing Marquis Uther Rannek, father of both Angel and Gwyniviere.

- The group entered initiative and sent Gwyniviere toward the captive while the others engaged the
harbor forces.

Each creature in a 10-foot-radius sphere centered on that point must make a Constitution saving throw. A creature takes 3d8 thunder damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. A creature made of inorganic material such as stone, crystal, or metal has disadvantage on this saving throw. A nonmagical object that isn't being worn or carried also takes the damage if it's in the spell's area. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the damage increases by 3d8 for each slot level above 2nd. on the wooden crates.

SuggestionLevel 2 · Enchantment1 action · 30 ft. · 8 hourV, M (a snake's tongue and either a bit of honeycomb or a drop of sweet oil)You suggest a course of activity (limited to a sentence or two) and magically influence a creature you can see within range that can hear and understand you. Creatures that can't be charmed are immune to this effect. The suggestion must be worded in such a manner as to make the course of action sound reasonable. Asking the creature to stab itself, throw itself onto a spear, immolate itself, or do some other obviously harmful act ends the spell. The target must make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, it pursues the course of action you described to the best of its ability. The suggested course of action can continue for the entire duration. If the suggested activity can be completed in a shorter time, the spell ends when the subject finishes what it was asked to do. You can also specify conditions that will trigger a special activity during the duration. For example, you might suggest that a knight give her warhorse to the first beggar she meets. If the condition isn't met before the spell expires, the activity isn't performed. If you or any of your companions damage the target, the spell ends. on one.

Each target must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or be affected by this spell for the duration. An affected target's speed is halved, it takes a −2 penalty to AC and Dexterity saving throws, and it can't use reactions. On its turn, it can use either an action or a bonus action, not both. Regardless of the creature's abilities or magic items, it can't make more than one melee or ranged attack during its turn. If the creature attempts to cast a spell with a casting time of 1 action, roll a d20. On an 11 or higher, the spell doesn't take effect until the creature's next turn, and the creature must use its action on that turn to complete the spell. If it can't, the spell is wasted. A creature affected by this spell makes another Wisdom saving throw at the end of each of its turns. On a successful save, the effect ends for it. on six shipboard enemies, slowing all six.
- The group removed Uther after checking him for seams and considering whether he might be a shapeshifter.

hold.
- She found many boxes, a differently designed submarine, and about fifteen chained prisoners of varied ages and peoples.
- Angel began freeing and healing the prisoners as the ship moved.

You cause the object to glow red-hot. Any creature in physical contact with the object takes 2d8 fire damage when you cast the spell. Until the spell ends, you can use a bonus action on each of your subsequent turns to cause this damage again. If a creature is holding or wearing the object and takes the damage from it, the creature must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or drop the object if it can. If it doesn't drop the object, it has disadvantage on attack rolls and ability checks until the start of your next turn. This spell can't locate a creature if running water at least 10 feet wide blocks a direct path between you and the creature. for Mallow.
- The spell detected him farther away, lost him briefly, and reacquired him much closer.
- A prisoner carrying a strange thread fatally injured himself, and his body burst apart to reveal a
tall man.
- The timing matched the locating spell’s interruption, but the man was not explicitly confirmed as Mallow at that moment.
- The man threatened Angel’s captive companions and family, forcing her to accompany him into the
submarine.
- The apparent corpse operated a lever that dropped the submarine into the water.
- An injured figure, possibly Brastok, tried to swim after it but could not catch it.

strings.

- An infant and a ten-year-old child were considered before the final choice was made.

- His magic, unnatural attachments, capacity to bargain with the hag, and apparent needle compulsions were removed.
- He retained his memories up to age ten, but none from after that point.
- Angel wrapped Crispin in her cloak and tried to control the submarine.
- She used Guidance and contacted Hellion by SendingLevel 3 · Evocation1 action · Unlimited · 1 roundV, S, M (a short piece of fine copper wire)You send a short message of twenty-five words or less to a creature with which you are familiar. The creature hears the message in its mind, recognizes you as the sender if it knows you, and can answer in a like manner immediately. The spell enables creatures with Intelligence scores of at least 1 to understand the meaning of your message. reinforcements but turned against Hellion’s side.
- Hellion activated tattoos that produced black tentacles and a protective barrier.
- Elsewhere, a large stitched captive was forced to order controlled soldiers to stand down.
- Their collapse resulted from Angel’s blood breaking Mallow’s fey deals and curses, not from his later transformation. Fighting continued, and some opponents attacked the incapacitated people despite warnings that they were controlled.
- Angel found the submarine’s brake and stopped it before a reef, but magical propulsion continued
forcing it forward.
- She cast Dispel MagicLevel 3 · Abjuration1 action · 120 ft. · InstantaneousV, SChoose one creature, object, or magical effect within range. Any spell of 3rd level or lower on the target ends. For each spell of 4th level or higher on the target, make an ability check using your spellcasting ability. The DC equals 10 + the spell's level. On a successful check, the spell ends. - The ensuing sounds were likely pressurization failures beginning after the spell.
- As the submarine collapsed and flooded, Angel carried Crispin through
Dimension DoorLevel 4 · Conjuration1 action · 500 ft. · InstantaneousVYou teleport yourself from your current location to any other spot within range. You arrive at exactly the spot desired. You can bring along objects as long as their weight doesn't exceed what you can carry. You can also bring one willing creature of your size or smaller who is carrying gear up to its carrying capacity. The creature must be within 5 feet of you when you cast this spell. - Freedom of MovementLevel 4 · Abjuration1 action · Touch · 1 hourV, S, M (a leather strap, bound around the arm or a similar appendage)You touch a willing creature. Her name was not recalled; she is distinct from his painter student in Raibon, whose name
was also not recalled.
- The two students may be spouses or lovers, or may share a studio; their exact relationship is not established.
- Cintique is a world-renowned painter who can paint the “reality hidden in the hyperreal,” rendering usually invisible elements of a scene in vivid detail. He can paint very quickly and from memory; he is the teacher, not the sculptor discussed here.
- The group teleported to a crowded healing site where casualties had been preserved with

- Angel reunited with her mother beside the recovering marquis and asked after Laudine, who
was still at Maidenfeld Keep.
- Laudine was reportedly upset by harsh things Hellion had told her. This likely concerned his disapproval of her letting Maria Rannek believe her marriage to Robert was a love match, as discussed in the earlier conversation. His exact words were not reported.

- Angel explained that she had defeated Crispin without killing him and freed the souls he held.

- Its water would work only at the pool, so each person would have to be transported there.
- After Uther was left to rest, Angel found Lance and the key to his secret storage.
- A playful chase ended with Lance striking his head on the bed.

- The group discussed traveling to Bastion, captive children implanted with parasites, and a known extraction method.
- A friendly face-stealer was impersonating Hellion. Angel already knew this was Trajan (Philodendron), but Sandor did not.

- According to his account, Mallow had used a murdered young changeling’s copied face when assembling that creature; this was distinct from Trajan’s impersonation of Hellion.
- Essence of Nymph was proposed for restoring Sandor’s spellcasting, though its safety and availability remained uncertain.

collection of issues, merchandise, and artwork there, along with crates, a sofa, and a small bar.
- It also contained personal garments previously worn by the woman who was probably Angel.
- The companions promised secrecy about the collection and the forthcoming Halloween issue of
Legally Bare, issue 3.5, Phantasmagoria.

- A private encounter began while Lance read one of the magazines.
- Angel modeled clothing and initiated intimate activity.
- The participants discussed poses, contact, and further acts.
- The consent concern was the Charm spell’s influence on Lance’s eagerness or judgment. In this scene, its influence was understood as loosening inhibition, not compelling a course of action as Suggestion would. This is a scene-specific interpretation, not an additional general effect of the Charmed condition.
Return to the Family Gathering

- Duke Ellington’s treatment remained ongoing and incomplete, requiring him and Duchess Antoinette to stay near their daughter-in-law Sister Kate for care.
- Kate was pregnant. Her growing closeness with Antoinette and the pregnancy also made the Duchess want to spend more time with her, beyond the need for treatment.
- General Strandiz had contributed a substantial sum from his retirement fund to help start Legally Bare; Emily was its first guest model.
- Kate called Emily her sister-in-law, then clarified that this was prospective: Mark and Emily were not yet married.

- Angel entered distracted but happy and danced while holding hands with those present.

submarines.
- Uther had learned of the matter only recently.
- Apgar’s earlier submarines had been effective during the Poasan-Apgarian Conflict, but their small numbers and experimental unreliability prevented them from turning the war in Apgar’s favor in the long run. The suspicious vessel was a much faster new model.
- Apgar had been pressured into a separate agreement concerning the surrender or distribution of submarines. This was not an explicit provision of the Treaty of Turain.
- Apgar may have unearthed Kalassarian submarine prototypes or recovered schematics and spells with which to build them; which route it took remained unresolved.
- The Maidenfelds’ economic influence and former royal status complicated direct confrontation.
- Reports placed a secret site of power outside the four known regional sites.
- Crispin had apparently known of it before the boon removed his later memories.
- The family reviewed Crispin’s abusive childhood, possible early magical bargain, cruelty toward
animals, later atrocities, and vendetta against the Maidenfelds.
- His campaign might have served the Reformists, concealed their involvement, or remained independently motivated.
- The group proposed investigating his lineage and the significance of the name Mallow.
- An option to make Crispin an infant was discussed but not adopted.
- The group considered convening regional nobles under a pretext of reparations and resettlement while concealing the true purpose.
- Lady Hedwig had learned that withheld wages helped provoke an opposing group.
- The party also speculated that Hedwig might be nobility from Nura using a pseudonym.
- Angel described a network of five teleportation-circle strongholds.
- The reported sites included Castle Malthrek, Travertine Keep (which Angel called a “castle”), an Admiralty base near Port Surrey, the Admiralty Base in Port Mibram, and the Paladinate at Eastonton.
- The Port Mibram base is near Castle Rannek; the circle was not at their current location.
- Custodians reportedly included Emily, Kate, Viscount Luke, and Miya Campbell.
- Angel recounted allies met during her travels and considered visiting Miya by teleportation circle.
- Duke Ellington and Duchess Antoinette Malthrek reiterated their previously announced plan to
abdicate after helping repair the damage and offer their expertise as private citizens.
- They had named Mark, rather than his elder brother Luke, to succeed Ellington as Duke of Malthrek.
- The group could not contact Merlin, the Crown Prince, Miss Tiffany, or likely Minfilia.
- Merlin, the Rannek siblings’ eldest brother, was in Thrantorbury. The failed contact did not establish that he was missing.
- Angel insisted on traveling thousands of miles to Bastion with a sea-crawler crew
despite family warnings that many pilgrims never returned.
- She wanted Gwyniviere to accompany her as well.
The Reformist Threat and the Proposed Meeting
Section titled “The Reformist Threat and the Proposed Meeting”- During the family meal, the group described how Reformists exploited noble failures, social divisions, and aggrieved commoners.
- They examined several glowing shards of the
Emerald Shield of Spring.
- Fragments of the shattered shield had been found in or carried by multiple people, and Hellion possessed another.
- The group planned to test whether the shards or their bearers’ blood protected against parasites, as a related object had once helped Mark resist one.
- The castle needed stronger defenses and a redistribution plan while forces remained committed elsewhere.
- The king was believed to have authority over the four places of power, including the ability to
reclaim or transfer authorities bestowed by House Dragonheart.
- Reformists were believed to be trying to manipulate him into reallocating those powers.
- He was resisting a parasite, while his adversaries allegedly needed his blood.
- The group described aberrant parasites that enslaved hosts and learned their cultures.
- All paladins were reportedly parasitized and brainwashed.
- Reformist infiltration of the Maltreks region had lasted about twenty years. Antoinette was among the earliest parasite hosts; Ellington became a host later at her behest.
- Spellcasters had been seen feeding magic into an orb.
- Related objects were categorized as bestowers, enhancers, repellers, and absorbers.
- Reformists might create them from seeds using pedestals.
- Deposits of the relevant material existed beneath northern mines no longer controlled by the
reporting faction.
- Rebecca was traveling north, possibly with John, and knew Early Hick, the reconstructed language discussed here.
- Donmar the Hicklander is a distant relation of the recently promoted Marshal Tyrion Donmar,
likely a nephew. The shorthand “nephew” corrected “son”; it did not settle the exact kinship.
- Kate said Donmar had peeped on her while she showered.
- He would characterize it as an accident, though a “calculated accident” remains possible; neither that defense nor deliberate intent was established by this exchange.
- Both the Castle Rannek siege and the immediate battle at Maidenfeld Keep ended before the
formal inquiry.
- Most of Castle Rannek’s attackers were controlled by Mallow, with only a few actual Reformists. Once the controlled attackers shut down, those acting with agency fled or were captured.
- Nick of Bede appeared to have been controlled. Once he was out of commission, his forces were demoralized or otherwise quelled.
- Whether his involvement was solely compelled or concealed willing Reformist ties and other identities remained unresolved. How to treat Hicklanders who followed controlled leaders also remained open.
- Angel contacted Hellion after the battle.
- The Maidenfelds had sorted captives bearing control stitches, including an unconscious Count.
- The captives had collapsed when Angel’s blood broke Mallow’s fey deals and curses, before his transformation. They might require restraint and Greater RestorationLevel 5 · Abjuration1 action · Touch · InstantaneousV, S, MYou imbue a creature you touch with positive energy to undo a debilitating effect. - Many ordinary followers had entered the battle in good faith under controlled leaders.
- The group planned a meeting involving the Marquis and the other faction but expected distrust of any meeting inside the keep.
- A traveler sought Laudine and learned that her immediate family was safe.
- The Maidenfeld family was described as secretive, with coded accounts that even Robert could not fully interpret.
- Hellion contacted Angel after meditating.
- Angel said the recovered Uther wanted to meet the Maidenfelds.
- Hellion agreed to notify the Baron and persuaded Angel to contact Steven from the fleet by SendingLevel 3 · Evocation1 action · Unlimited · 1 roundV, S, M (a short piece of fine copper wire)You send a short message of twenty-five words or less to a creature with which you are familiar. - Hellion returned inside the keep and began looking for the Baron.
The Formal Inquiry
Section titled “The Formal Inquiry”- A recovered superior summoned the group to a meeting within the hour.
- They planned to bring additional people and spellcasters while leaving a defensive force behind.
- Angel’s blood breaking Mallow’s fey deals and curses had caused the controlled fighters to pass out before his transformation into a child.
- Tristan confronted Hellion Blanchimontt outside a room.

- Hellion announced Tristan’s presence to the occupant behind the door, who looked at Tristan and then withdrew.

- The subsequent discussion of a rare, expensive substance concerned Essence of Nymph.
- The essence is used as a component in making Perfume of BewitchingCommonThis tiny vial contains magic perfume, enough for one use. You can use an action to apply the perfume to yourself, and its effect lasts 1 hour. For the duration, you have advantage on all Charisma checks directed at humanoids of challenge rating 1 or lower. - The company assembled at a teleportation circle with Baron Maidenfeld, Tristan Maidenfeld,
Robert, Annika, children, and several uncertainly identified travelers.
- Some refused to teleport into the keep and demanded neutral ground.
- The traveling party nevertheless reached the keep, with Angel apparently altering part of the process at the cost of a spell slot.
- Soldiers were prepared for the arrivals, and carriages carried the group onward through a familiar but newly tense landscape.
- On the castle grounds, the travelers passed a child in a tree holding flowers.
- The child discussed several poisonous plants, resisted pleasantries, and eventually agreed to accompany the others after inspection.
- Castle protocol required a security inspection despite the party’s codes.
- The travelers entered a formal meeting where attendees were announced individually.
- Duke Ellington and Duchess Antoinette Malthrek spoke for Reformist interests while affirming
that they had renounced the movement.
- Hellion held and showed the living parasite extracted from Ellington.
- They said their parasites had held their memories, which they later implanted back into themselves so they would retain responsibility and guilt.
- They offered those memories as evidence for a fair public trial, accepted the possibility of execution, and called for reparations without expecting forgiveness.
- Others prioritized extracting intelligence about the Reformists and their manipulation of the Hicklanders.
- Hellion told the Marquis that a binding bargain had prevented the family from discussing certain
secrets.
- The restriction concerns what the Maidenfelds cannot disclose; it does not establish the truth of the explanations they can offer.
- The Baron was accused of concealing the Reformist threat and failing his people.
- He accepted responsibility for withholding information but defended attempts to contain the danger.
- He promised to reveal the family’s Reformist dealings and disclosed his account of his wife’s death. He repeated the substance of his earlier account at Maidenfeld Keep: she had been infected at sea five years earlier, and he killed her believing the parasite had replaced her. The table skipped the retelling for pacing, not the in-world disclosure. His belief that she was already dead upon implantation remains his interpretation, not an established limit on rescue or healing.
- Angel questioned the family’s advanced submarines.
- Confronted with the evidence, the Maidenfelds acknowledged ownership, including the submarine found aboard the MS Paprika. MS means Maidenfeld Ship.
- The Baron said the submarines were developed and employed primarily to keep their spice source secret. His justification included coastal defense, concealed islands, and protected operations.
- He argued that withholding information about Reformist activity did not mean the family had remained idle against it. The truth and completeness of his explanation remained unverified.
- The family said trade funded the fleet and suggested one of its ships had been hijacked.
The MS Paprika Investigation
Section titled “The MS Paprika Investigation”- Evidence showed that the MS Paprika carried cages of people of varied ages and species who
reportedly had no criminal records.
- At least one captive was dead.
- The victims may have been spellcasters trafficked out of the country.
- The group considered whether the vessel was commandeered after Lord Steven was called ashore.
- Mallow-controlled people and sailors were encountered aboard the Paprika. This established his involvement, but did not establish the hijacking account, its timing, or inside assistance.
- The fleet’s disappearance had escaped notice while attention remained fixed on the company’s lands.
- Uther Rannek invoked Western Fleet authority as the admiral in charge of that fleet, treating the matter as a national-security concern.
- Nick of Bede said he had not controlled his own actions.
- He described Crispin as an exceptionally gifted gardener who denied knowing magic.
- Crispin had worked with his associates for about five years and periodically disappeared.
- The inquiry also heard that Crispin had served as a Reformist candle bearer.
- A witness described Mallow’s “meat stride,” an ability resembling tree stride that let him travel
through the flesh of controlled people.
- This explained how he could evade Locate CreatureLevel 4 · Divination1 action · Self · 1 hourV, S, M (a bit of fur from a bloodhound)Describe or name a creature that is familiar to you. This spell can't locate a creature if running water at least 10 feet wide blocks a direct path between you and the creature..
- Uther defended Angel’s magical judgment and credited her planning with his rescue.
- The inquiry examined Mallow’s vendetta against the Maidenfelds.
- The family acknowledged secrets but suggested mundane business grievances as possible origins.
- The Maidenfelds’ spice volume appeared too large for their visible shipping capacity.
- Theories included druidic cultivation, a fertile pocket dimension, or an underground orb-supported site.
- Oscar had speculated that Reformists supplied orbs through trade connected to Ahuria.
- The Maidenfelds were described as a former ruling house defeated long ago by the dragon-slaying
Dragonhearts.
- The speakers knew that the Dragonhearts had originated as a Maidenfeld cadet branch that rose to prominence; this shared ancestry was not a new discovery at the inquiry.
- Baron Malvius II Maidenfeld responded to Hellion’s Draconic. Hellion interpreted the response as indicating that the Baron understood but did not want that knowledge revealed, and respected his apparent wish by not exposing it.
- The Baron denied serving the Reformist Church and promised a serious internal investigation into the trafficking and apparent inside job.
- The meeting discussed an independent investigation regardless of company consent.
- The investigation will proceed. Hellion made his intention to accept clear at the meeting, but cannot undertake the assignment alone.
- The assignment’s terms, personnel in charge, and military companions remain to be settled before formal acceptance.
- The captives’ intended purpose remained unclear, with trafficking, magical exploitation, and organ harvesting all considered.
- The marquis had been bludgeoned but showed no detected parasites, piercings, magical influence, or
disguise.
- Kethbjorn’s entire face had been flayed; Sister Pira helped restore it.
- A rest period of two or possibly three days for Angel was discussed alongside investigation preparations and local repairs, without a finalized course of action.
- Protecting the fertile delta became the leading recovery priority.
- Repairs to weirs and sluice gates were discussed, not finalized as assignments.
- The group feared Reformists would exploit food shortages and low morale.
- Patrols and a harvest celebration were proposed, though flooding had destroyed fields and crops.
- A decentralized faction representative explained that autonomous cells had enabled both rapid
expansion and outside exploitation.
- The representative would seek wider consensus before speaking for the whole organization.

All plants in a half-mile radius centered on a point within range become enriched for 1 year. - The party considered approaching a reclusive local elven community.
- Feywild elves known to the group might not be suitable representatives.
- Angel agreed to contact an elven friend but could not promise success.
- Returning the elven children from the ship to their settlements might open contact. The party also considered asking the elves to help repair the flooding’s damage to the Rannek Delta and avert a potential winter famine.
- The group worried that the elves could interpret the proposal as coercive or as exchanging the children for assistance.
- The Baron instructed Tristan to follow up on Steven’s whereabouts and ensure his prompt arrival.
- Tristan agreed and went to the courtyard; whether he carried out the instruction is unknown.
- After a break, the inquiry resumed with news that Tristan had been located inside a cone of
silence.
- Any deeper connection between his activity and the Reformists remains open; the nearby scene involving Angel and young Crispin does not establish such a connection.
- Oren and Hellion compared the Maidenfelds and Dragonhearts, their possible histories involving
dragons, and which family was behaving more like a dragon by amassing wealth.
- Oren asked both questions: “Who is the one who is acting like a dragon?” and “Who is the one who is amassing wealth in the country?”
- The Dragonhearts openly associate themselves with dragons through their name and coat of arms; the comparison questioned whether the Maidenfelds’ behavior was more draconic despite that overt Dragonheart symbolism. It did not establish either family’s actual draconic origins.
- Angel tried to entice young Crispin down from a tree with an offer of flowers.
- Angel did not actually have a blood orchid. Crispin objected that blood orchids did not grow at that time of year.
- Angel then invited him to eat pudding with her.
- A report again described the boon that transformed Mallow into a boy and removed later memories.
- The group agreed that his real identity must remain secret.
- They feared his death would destroy important clues.
- Crispin now lived far beyond his childhood era and might eventually learn that his father, hometown, and familiar world were gone.
- The group speculated that Mallow hated the Maidenfelds and had a personal vendetta against them; this did not establish that such hatred dated to childhood or remained after the boon.
- Angel guided Crispin by having him hold the edge of her skirt.
- Oren tried to follow Tristan. Tristan’s courtyard location and presence inside a cone of silence are established; his actual business there remains unknown.
Open Hooks
Section titled “Open Hooks”- Investigate the purpose and reach of Mallow’s switched-limb infiltration among the Maidenfelds, including the origin of the organic-tethered hooks.
- Investigate Nick of Bede’s insurgency claim and betrayal: was he solely under control, or did he also have willing Reformist ties? Address the political consequences of the Bede betrayal.
- Account for the missing court wizards, including who has been recovered, their treatment, and what they can reveal about their captivity and the siege.
- Determine what key the Maidenfelds possess and whether Mallow’s accusation was truthful.
- Arrange Crispin’s immediate and long-term care, including possible magical or druidic education,
while respecting his boundary against being touched. His retained childhood experiences and
abilities may affect his recovery; his physical age of ten and memory cutoff are settled.
- Whether an underlying curse remains on him, and what “a life must end” requires, remain open.
- Address the aftermath of the settled battles at Castle Rannek and Maidenfeld Keep, including treatment and accountability for controlled combatants, willing attackers, and Hicklanders who followed controlled leaders. Distinguish control from willing participation among the League soldiers as well.
- Complete Uther’s recovery and arrange remaining treatment for the rescued prisoners and Hellion.
- Follow up on Hedwig’s invitation to Gwyniviere to visit Nura, separately from the invitation to join the Hags of Hama’s coven.
- Follow up on Gwyniviere’s deferred coven decision and the prospective third member she is to recruit.
- Arrange treatment for Mallow’s victims, including permission and transport to Sister Pira’s pool.
- From Angel’s perspective: why does everyone keep confusing Sir Rance with Lance when they are clearly different people? This is her ongoing misunderstanding, not an unresolved identity.
- Maidenfeld ownership of the advanced submarines is acknowledged; their purpose and the Baron’s explanation remain subject to investigation, including the faster model, hidden site of power, and fulfillment of the separate submarine side agreement with Apgar.
- Track Sandor’s recovery from magical overexertion and his future role against the Reformists.
- He returned to defend Castle Rannek and saved Trajan through magical overexertion. How he escaped captivity and Mallow’s control, and how Mallow acquired his copied face, remain open.
- Follow up on Angel’s planned journey to Bastion, including passage and companions.
- Angel wants Gwyniviere to come as well.
- Locate and safely treat the other captive children and their parasites.
- Follow up on the Warp Star franchise proposal and VIP-match plans.
- Follow up on the countryside investigation and the remaining Reformist threat.
- Investigate Mallow’s childhood bargain, forgotten family history, Reformist involvement, and periodic absences. A personal vendetta against the Maidenfelds remains speculation; neither its origin in childhood nor its persistence after the boon is established.
- Establish the limits of Mallow’s flesh-travel ability and its connection to the reanimated body.
- Clarify custodianship of the teleportation strongholds and whether relations with the Maidenfelds and Miya will expand the network; the eastern site is the Paladinate at Eastonton.
- Follow the Malthreks’ corrective work and the implementation of their announced abdication and Mark’s succession; follow up on contact with Merlin in Thrantorbury and establish the safety and communications status of the other unreachable allies.
- Investigate the Emerald Shield of Spring shards’ protective properties and strengthen the castle’s defenses and force distribution.
- Determine the king’s authority over the four places of power, the parasite’s effect, why his blood is needed, and what his resistance delays.
- Investigate the orbs, control of the northern mines, and parasitism among allied factions; follow up on Rebecca’s mission.
- Continue the convened inquiry and direct talks with the Maidenfelds: settle reparations, accountability, outstanding assurances, and courses of action, including how Mallow’s victims will receive restitution and how his treatment will be explained.
- Decode the Maidenfeld accounts.
- Gather intelligence from Ellington and Antoinette Malthrek; Hellion holds Ellington’s extracted living parasite.
- Investigate the family’s Reformist dealings, undisclosed safeguards, green substances, concealed islands, and proprietary operations. Disclosure restrictions do not verify the family’s account; the bargain’s exact wording is not an outstanding factual confirmation.
- Test the MS Paprika hijacking account, including its timing and whether anyone inside the organization assisted; Mallow’s involvement is established, but inside assistance is not.
- Investigate the captives’ intended destination, recipients, and exploitation, using the recovered survivors’ accounts without treating their anonymity as an identity mystery.
- Settle Hellion’s assignment terms, military companions, personnel in charge, and limits on proprietary information before formal acceptance; he has already voiced his intention to accept.
- Investigate the Maidenfelds’ spice source, possible orb access, retained royal knowledge, and possible dragon history. Hellion inferred that the Baron understood Draconic and preferred discretion; this was not an explicit secrecy request.
- Determine why the marquis was spared the parasites and severe alterations suffered by other captives.
- Determine what delayed Steven’s arrival and whether Tristan followed up as instructed.
- Follow through on regional recovery proposals, including floodworks, morale, food security, harvest funding, and coordination within the decentralized faction.
- Find a caster capable of restoring the crops and establish respectful contact with the local elves, including safe return of the elven children without coercion.
- Determine what Tristan was doing inside the cone of silence in the courtyard and whether it involved any wider Reformist activity.
Boundaries
Section titled “Boundaries”- The formal meeting had convened but remained unfinished at the session’s end. The investigation will proceed, and Hellion intends to accept; the military personnel accompanying him remain undecided. This does not finalize the meeting’s other proposals and assignments. The need to reach an elven community was established, but how to make contact and secure help remained open.
- Hedwig’s retrieval of the ship and its remaining captives will succeed; its outcome is not an unresolved rescue hook. The elven children’s return and potential help from their settlements remain active follow-up, while the court wizards’ recovery accounting remains open.
- The harbor survivors remain anonymous; their anonymity alone does not create an open hook.
- No real player names, usernames, account identities, or private speaker labels are included.
- Uncertain character attributions remain qualified or neutral rather than being presented as confirmed.
- The intimate encounters are summarized non-graphically while preserving game-relevant uncertainty about consent, identity, Charm, and Essence of Nymph.
- No unresolved family relationship has been converted into character canon.
- Only confidently identified D&D spells are represented with inline Spell components; uncertain magic and class features remain plain text.
