Yanara

Yanara is an Akhibati officer associated with the Death of a God. Records connect her with the Akhibati Regional Office and the Council, and name the Reformist Church as an enemy.

The original Yanara was an outwardly shy officer whose face and identity were stolen by Iris/Fai Vaikhari. Iris had little time to learn the original Yanara’s habits in depth, and her version of the identity became more cheerful and assertive than the woman she had replaced. Accounts present this not simply as a mistake, but as Iris acting out the person Yanara had wanted to become.

Afterward, that identity left Stairway to the Heavens and moved elsewhere, becoming increasingly distinct from both Iris and the woman whose life had first supplied the disguise.

Yanara became a separate person when Iris used the Dagger of Reality Distortion to spin the identity off from herself. Accounts place this transformation after Yanara, while still an assumed identity of Iris, fell in love with Tapaedho.

She is therefore remembered as both a continuation of the stolen identity and a departure from it: a Yanara shaped by Iris’s incomplete impersonation, the original Yanara’s own wishes, and the later magic that made the identity real.
