Learn Early Hick

Early Hick is an old language of Senera. The full grammar page explains it like a reference book for language builders. This learning book takes the same language and teaches it with the terms you may know from English class: nouns, action words, describing words, word endings, and sentence parts.

By the end of these lessons, you should be able to:

  • read simple Early Hick words aloud;
  • use a few greetings, farewells, and everyday response words;
  • recognize common words for people, nature, water, motion, and time;
  • make a simple sentence with a noun and an action word;
  • mark who does an action and what the action is aimed at;
  • use place endings like “into,” “from,” “up,” “down,” and “under”;
  • answer yes/no questions and say what is not true;
  • build longer noun groups with possession;
  • use direct commands and softer requests;
  • talk about wanting, intending, and willingness;
  • join equal nouns with “and,” “or,” and “together with”;
  • link sentences with “before,” “after,” and “because”;
  • point to people, things, forces, and distant groups;
  • read short Early Hick practice sentences with help.

Read the lessons in order the first time. Each page introduces only a few patterns, then gives practice. The answers are hidden so you can try the work before checking yourself.

The lessons avoid heavy grammar labels at first. When a formal term matters, it appears after the plain explanation. For example, this book says “the doer ending -el” before it says “ergative.”
