Western Lowlands

The Western Lowlands is a major region in the western part of Senera, and is administered as a part of the Marquessate of Rannek. It is a region of rolling hills and valleys, with its system of underground rivers and karsts as a source of fresh water for surrounding regions, as well as its own burgeoning agricultural economy.

The Hicks of the Maasamgralok tribe were scattered throughout the hilly landscape of the region. They ranged as far north as present-day Malterdale, as far south as the Rannek Karsts, and as far east as the feet of Thraltorgral.

A large part of the region was once the capital region of Senera, as it included the lands of the former royal house of Maidenfeld. After the events of the War of Thyme and Fire, the region was formally named the “Western Lowlands” by the Dragonhearts, and its administration was transferred to the Marquessate of Rannek.

The majority of one of the two major watersheds of Senera, the Western Lowlands is fed by the Malter River, which originates in the Maltreks and flows into underground rivers carved through the rich marine limestone that underpins the hilly landscape.
